RewardStar Card

Set up and manage branded RewardStar gift cards—design, denominations, email, catalogue, and issuing to members.

RewardStar Card

RewardStar Card lets you design branded prepaid gift cards, email them to recipients, and let people redeem into curated digital gift cards. Cards can be issued from the admin, or from systems such as Braze via the Custom API.

Unlike the Rewards Catalog (where members spend points), RewardStar issues a dollar-value card that draws from your program Fund when Test Mode is off.

Overview

From Rewards → RewardStar Card you can:

  • Create card programs — each with its own design, email, denominations, and catalogue
  • Design card art — background, logo, heading, and denomination styling
  • Produce denomination images — one PNG per value for email and redemption
  • Brand the issue email — gift-card email template with preview and test send
  • Assign a gift card catalogue — what recipients can redeem into
  • Issue cards to members (and revoke when needed)
  • Track activity — issued, emailed, expired, revoked, and converted events

  • Fund — balance drawn when you issue live cards
When RewardStar appears. The menu shows when Gift Cards (or RewardStar Only) is enabled for your program. If you do not see RewardStar Card, ask your Incentable contact to enable it.

Prerequisites

  • An open program with Gift Cards or RewardStar Only enabled
  • Program administrator access with Editor role (or higher)
  • A Gift Card Catalogue ready to assign (create under Rewards → Gift Card Catalogues)
  • Program Fund funded for live issues (or use Test Mode for QA)

  1. Confirm Gift Cards / Fund are enabled for the program.
  2. Create or open a Gift Card Catalogue with the brands you want recipients to choose.
  3. Create a RewardStar Card on the list page.
  4. Card Designer — background, logo, heading, denomination style → Save.
  5. Email Template — colours, CTA, footer → Preview / Send TestSave.
  6. Settings → Branding — set Client name (required before issuing).
  7. Denominations — select values → Generate Cards / Produce.
  8. Gift Card Catalogue — assign the catalogue.
  9. Optionally turn on Test Mode, issue a test card, then turn Test Mode off for live issuing.
  10. Confirm Fund balance, then issue live cards.

Create a RewardStar Card

  1. Open Rewards → RewardStar Card.
  2. Click create (Create a RewardStar Card / add).
  3. In Add New RewardStar Card, enter:
    • Program Name (required) — display title for this card program
    • Type (required) — Currency or Points (list metadata; denomination type can still be set on the Denominations tab)
  4. Save.

The new card opens with status Active. The list shows title, Card ID, updated date, type, and status. Use the Active / Inactive tabs (and search) to find cards. Copy the Card ID from the detail header when you need it for the API or integrations.

Titles must be unique. Demo programs cannot create new RewardStar Cards.

Complete card setup

Open a card from the list. Setup alerts at the top of the page call out anything still missing before you should issue.

Card Designer

Design the visual card face:

  • Background — choose from Gallery or upload
  • Denomination Style — where and how the face value is drawn on the card (position, padding, font, size, colour)
  • Heading Style — optional heading text and typography
  • Logo — optional logo image, position, and width

Click Save when finished.

Email Template

Configure the email recipients get when a card is issued.

  • Preview types: Gift card (editable), plus OTP and Redemption chrome (system-managed content with your branding)
  • Preview viewports: Mobile / Tablet / Desktop
  • Email Template Settings:
    • Global Style — body colour, canvas colour, font weight
    • CTA Button — button text and colours (gift card email)
    • Client Footer — colours, rich text, optional links
  • Actions: Preview, Send Test

The issued email includes the produced card image and a redeem link. Placeholders such as redeem URL, redemption code, expiry date, and first name are filled in automatically when the card is issued.

Settings (Branding, expiry, Test Mode)

Open Settings → Card Settings:

SettingWhat it does
Client nameRequired branding for issuance. Set this before you issue.
Card labelLabel used in branding contexts
Primary / Secondary colourTheme colours for the redemption experience
Validity period (days)Default expiry length for new issues (use 30–365 days in practice; issue flow enforces that range)
Enable test modeWhen on, issues do not draw from the Fund and codes are tagged as test
Test Mode is for QA. Issued test cards skip fund withdrawals. Turn it off before live campaigns.

Denominations and Produce

  1. Open the Denominations tab.
  2. Choose Currency or Points for denomination values.
  3. Select presets (for example $10, $25, $50, $100, $150, $200) and/or Add denomination (custom values ≥ 1).
  4. Click Generate Cards, confirm Produce gift cards?, then Produce.

Produce generates one PNG per selected denomination (used in email and redemption). Until you produce, that value cannot be issued. Re-producing creates a new version; earlier produced images remain available in the list.

The left Produced Cards panel shows each value, when it was produced, and View / Download actions.

Assign a gift card catalogue

  1. Open Gift Card Catalogue.
  2. Select a Catalogue (or use Manage catalogues to create/edit catalogues under Rewards → Gift Card Catalogues).
  3. Confirm the curated gift card range looks correct.

Without an assigned catalogue, recipients cannot redeem—and issuance is blocked until setup is complete.

If something is missing, alerts appear on the card page. The same checks apply when issuing via the RewardStar API.

Issue cards from the admin

  1. Open the card → Issue Cards.
  2. Click Issue New Card.
  3. Enter:
    • First Name, Last Name, Email (required)
    • Denomination (required — must be a configured, produced value)
    • Expiry Days (required — 30–365)
    • Optional: Account Key, Mobile, Email Subject
  4. Confirm and issue.

Incentable matches an existing member by Account Key (if provided) then Email, or creates a Pending member. The recipient gets the branded email with a redeem link.

Issue Cards table shows status, name, email, denomination, issued and expiry dates, plus summary counts (Issued / Converted / Expired / Revoked).

ActionNotes

Revoke CardAvailable for issued cards. Live revoke returns face value to the fund (with applicable breakage fee). Test cards revoke with no fund movement.
Admin issue is one recipient at a time. For automated or high-volume issuing (for example from Braze), use the RewardStar API or Braze webhook guide.

Activate, deactivate, and Test Mode

ActionHow

There is no delete or duplicate action in the admin. Use Inactive to stop using a card program without removing history.

Activity

The Activity tab lists events such as issued, emailed, expired, revoked, and converted (with a Test chip when applicable). Use Refresh after issuing or revoking.

Fund and Orders

  • Live issue creates a Fund Withdrawal (face value plus fees/GST where applicable). Check Current Balance before campaigns.
  • Test Mode issues do not move the fund.
  • After a recipient redeems, fulfillment appears under Orders (typically Incentable-managed gift card lines).

Tips and limitations

  • Produce before you issue — each denomination must be produced for that value.
  • Client name is required — set it under Settings → Branding even if the designer looks complete.
  • Expiry — issuing accepts 30–365 days (default often 90).
  • Card ID — copy from the detail header for API keys’ default card or webhook payloads.
  • Demo programs — creating and issuing RewardStar Cards is disabled on demos.
  • CSV download of issued codes may appear disabled; use the Issue Cards table and Activity for day-to-day tracking.
Typical go-live path: Design + email → set client name → produce $25/$50/$100 → assign catalogue → Test Mode on → issue to yourself → Test Mode off → top up Fund → issue live or connect Braze/API.
