Rewards Settings
Rewards Settings
The Rewards tab under General Settings controls program-wide reward behavior—whether members see points on the site, whether they can use a shopping cart, what points are called, and how points convert to dollar value for display.
This is separate from Rewards → Rewards Catalog, where you create categories, catalogues, and individual rewards. Configure catalog content in Rewards Catalog; use this tab for global points and redemption UX settings.
Overview
From Settings → General Settings → Rewards you can:
| Setting | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Reward Points Display | Show point balances and point values on the member site |
| Rewards Shopping Cart | Let members add multiple rewards to a cart before checkout (vs. single-item redemption) |
| Rewards Points Label | Custom name for points (for example, Points, Stars, Credits) |
| Points Multiplier | How many points equal $1 — drives conversion examples and display math |
The tab shows a Points to Dollar Conversion table that updates live as you change the multiplier (for example, how many points equal $10 or $100).
Where to find it
- Route:
/settings/{programId} - Side navigation: Settings → General Settings
- Tab: Rewards
Click Save after changing options.
Prerequisites
- An open program with the rewards module enabled
- Editor role or higher to change settings
- Rewards Catalog configured if members will redeem items
Step-by-step
Configure points display and label
- Open Settings → General Settings → Rewards.
- Enable Reward Points Display if members should see points on the member site and in Design Studio dynamic components.
- Enter Rewards Points Label — the word members see instead of “Points” (for example,
Stars). - Set Points Multiplier — the number of points that equal $1. The helper text shows the dollar value of a single point (for example, multiplier
100→ 1 point = $0.01). - Review the Points to Dollar Conversion table for common amounts.
- Click Save.
Enable the shopping cart
- On the same tab, enable Rewards Shopping Cart.
- Click Save.
When enabled, members can add multiple catalog items before completing redemption. When disabled, redemptions typically proceed one item at a time. Fulfillment still flows through Orders.
Points multiplier explained
| Multiplier | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
100 | 100 points = $1 | 5,000 points display as $50.00 value |
1 | 1 point = $1 | 500 points display as $500.00 value |
The multiplier affects display and conversion examples on this tab. Individual reward prices are still set per item in the catalog.
Tips and limitations
- Catalog vs settings — Categories, rewards, tags, and images live in Rewards Catalog; this tab only controls global behavior.
- Points must exist — Members need points from imports, rules, or manual awards (Points Import, Target Points Rules) before redemptions appear in Orders.
- Design Studio — Add Rewards dynamic components in Design Studio so the catalog appears on the member site after display settings are enabled.
- Fund programs — If Fund appears in your navigation, fulfillment funding is separate from these display settings.
